The Munk-Gordon Arctic Speaker Series is pleased to host Minister J. Michael Miltenberger of the Northwest Territories as our December keynote speaker. Minister Miltenberger will review an initiative currently underway that could see authority over NWT’s land, water and resources migrate from Ottawa to the NWT. He will highlight the responsibilities of water management as they currently exist in the NWT and will discuss how this might change when and if this authority is devolved. He will also outline both the challenges and opportunities this change might present in implementing the NWT Water Stewardship Strategy

J. Michael Miltenberger is one of the longest-serving members of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, serving the constituents of Thebacha since his election in October 1995. His re-election to the 17th Legislative Assembly will mark his fifth consecutive term. He currently serves as Minister of Finance, Chairman of the Financial Management Board, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Minister Responsible for the Northwest Territories Power Corporation, and Government House Leader.
